Yes.. mode b then thx with Hitachi flasher tab...I did all that.. it can't be faulty laser cuz when I flash back to stock, all orig games work.

It is much harder on a drive to read a burned games than a factory pressed disc. So, yeah it can be the laser. IMO it is the laser...it's always the laser on a Hitachi. They are garbage, I replace 20 Hitachi lasers to 1 on any other brand of drive.

Current CFW, ABGX, and an iHas burner(non-truncated discs) is the best you can do for saftey, but like Skywalker said it's never safe, EVER. If anyone tells you it is they are lying out there teeth or really trust too much in CFW.

Sorry to bump an old thread but i got a question and didnt wanna start a new thread...
What are the ill effects if you do not flash back to stock? I have never done it before and had no problems... but i have a phat liteon that i need to take from 2.0 to 3.0 is it truly necessary to go back first? I really dont know how to if you do, can someone give me a quick tut using the lizard to go back to stock? I believe i have all the necessary files from the drive.

The only time I personally flash to stock is for a dashboard update. It is ludicris that people recommend flashing stock then to new cfw if there is no dash update. I mean seriously, why would you?
But during a dash update you run the risk of being flagged if it checks the drive. I mean the drive can be checked at any time but for 13146 it obviously catches cfw. So that's the only time I would recommend using OFW and then I would wait for C4E to check it out before I went back to CFW.

If XGD2's boot it's not a laser issue. I would try a different brand of disc. I assume you are trying the same disc in both and if it works in one then the topology is patched. So, yeah try a different brand. That is weird
