Ok, i had flashed a friends xbox elite a few days ago, all went well. backups and originals all work fine.. then he told he he's now receiving the open tray error. so i have it here.. originals show open tray and also backups. the drive just runs for a sec and then shows the error.. ran w/o top and i can see the laser on but the track is not moving.. disk spins up for a sec then stops.. tried cleaning lens and spindle.. nothing.. anyone know where to start?

would help if you gave info like what drive it is, how you flashed it? did you disconnect laser ribbon when you flashed?

The drive is a lite on DG-16D2S , flashed with lizard , key retrieved with scorpion 2. Laser was disconnected when flashing. the box is a phat elite (black) and worked fine at first, the laser does come on , already attempted cleaning it. could this issue be caused by a faulty controller? because i did manage for a short time to get it to load bf3 but then came back unrecognized disk. thanks for any info.

yes i updated the dash before the flash (dash is now the new metro style).. i know now it is a 0251 i believe. I ordered a replacement laser for it in the meantime, seems that its not even trying to read.. laser comes on and flashes 2 or so times then thats it..

the laser may not have enough power to read the reflection back, basically the laser is telling the console there i sno disc inserted
