Hello everybody,

I wonder if someone can tell me if it is necessary to disconnect all the three ribbons in a Slim Liteon Drive in order to apply the Kamikaze method.

In the kamikaze tutorial no ribbons are disconnected, but I have checked the Macronix tutorial (the other with Trident MX), and ribbons are totally disconnected ... so I don't know if in Kamikaze would be the same ...

you dont need to, but you should

The reason they are disconnected in the Macronix manual is because you have to flip the board upside down to make the cut. But like VGC you don't have to, I don't.
I've also been told you can damage the laser on PHAT LiteOn's if you don't disconnect it, but I've literally done thousands and never had a problem.

soI will keep the ribbons connected in the slim ones, and laser ribbon disconnected in the phat ones, isn`t it?
