Aloha all, noobie here. i have a nonslim 360. After mistakenly updating using leggo pirates of caribbean, i'm unable to play my newer backups, like black ops, modern warfre 2, etc. i'm trying the lizard for the first time. everything went smoothly using latest firmware. but still having the same error of disc unreadable. all other backups play ok. any help appreciated.

Really you need to be using the iHas burner on XGD3s now, I wouldn't put faith in truncated discs.
Also you don't need to search for the patches, use the new ABGX like guty96 has said.

One more question. the guy who flashed my 360 the first time said he could fix the problem by reflashing. thats why i bought the lizard. got tired of the constant reflashing. He never mentioned repatching the game. Why didn't the reflash fix the update problem? the backups played ok until the leggo pirates update. remenber, im a noobie.

You're still gonna have to reflash on some dash updates, you just won't have to send it to him. IDK what update is on the Lego game but just like any update it blocks the games from booting. The flash is only half of the hack, the games need to be patched to boot with the LT, it's as simple as that.
If they still aren't booting it could be something else but we need to know what drive you have, what dash you are on, how are you burning the games, and what CFW you put on the drive.

Well actually I had exactly the same problem but I fixed it with this, did not have the ID it asks for, I only dowloaded as many as I could for NTSC files for the game I wanted and it just worked, you can download more than one at the time, it saves time

is it possible to update the dashboard online with the dvd drive removed then reinstall the flashed dvd drive? does this make sense? i'm wondering if the flashed drive may interfere with the update. i've already tried to remove all installed updates through system settings. i really do not want to brick my system, i'm still too new at this.

Installing dashboard updates using Usb flash drive is best and safest way

You should never update without your DVD drive attached. A flashed DVD drive can interfere with an update but all you have to do is flash the firmware back to stock. After the update just flash it back to CFW.
Also you cannot remove dash updates going though system settings, lol. Once it's updated it stays there. You can delete some update files but not the kernel update.
There's not much of a chance of "bricking" your console updating...unless you unplug it or something while it's updating.
